A free tool may be enough

If you occasionally need to check a calculation and are comfortable using a browser, start with a free calculator. Paying for an app does not make the underlying arithmetic different.

A native app becomes worth considering when its interface, availability or repeated workflow is useful to you. If you need named saved setups, a history or reminders, compare those features explicitly. “Calculator” in an app's name does not tell you how much tracking it includes.

When Dosii is worth a closer look

Dosii may fit if you want a focused iPhone interface for entering quantities and seeing the calculated result on a visual syringe scale. It supports mg and mcg inputs and shows numeric results alongside the visual.

Its value is the experience of using that interface. You can judge the screens before buying: see the walkthrough and read the calculation notes. The US listing requires iOS 15.1 or later. Check the current store listing for your device and region.

The app remembers the last calculator state locally. That is different from saving multiple named setups or keeping a history. If your main job is scheduling, reminders or tracking several preparations, start by comparing apps built for that job.

Five checks before choosing any calculator

1. Understand the inputs. Mass, concentration, liquid volume and syringe markings are different quantities. The interface should make their meanings clear.
2. Look for an explanation of rounding. A displayed number can have less precision than the arithmetic behind it. A calculator cannot verify a physical measuring device.
3. Check what “saved” means. Last-used values, named setups and a dated history are different features.
4. Check the full price and platform. Free download, subscription and one-time purchase mean different things. Confirm device compatibility before buying.
5. Find support and privacy details. Look for a contact route and a clear explanation of where your values are stored. A developer's privacy statement is not an independent audit.
